Chimineas Ranch Foundation

The Chimineas Ranch Foundation is a classic example of the kind of public-private partnership that state facilities need in these times of economic stress. However, the story is deeper than that for there are a host of private entities that came together in a "working group" to help give birth to the new Foundation by providing funding and/or volunteer expertise and effort:
Avenales Sportsmen's Club
California Deer Association
California Native Plant Society
The Wildlife Society
Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation
Santa Maria Valley Sportsmen's Association
Our biggest and best partner is the California Department of Fish & Wildlife. DFW owns and controls the 30,000 acres that comprise the Chimineas Ranch Units of the Carrizo Plains Ecological Reserve.
While the Foundation exists to help DFW manage the reserve, we owe much to the responsive and dedicated local DFW staff that we work hand-in-hand with to accomplish our mutual goals.
