The carved cliff seen here in Red Rock Canyon, north of the Spanish Ranch section, appears to depict an old brand, perhaps the "rafter cross L" or some other variation. There may well be a date included, "03" perhaps indicating 1903, which is well after the establishment of the ranch. The other figures are even a greater mystery. This location is well off the beaten path but in 1903 may well have been part of open range that allowed access from the Cuyama Valley.
Web searches and discussions with old timers have so far been fruitless.
